I started our worm bed with 2 pounds of brown nosed worms purchased locally. At first I made a self contained worm bed and then realized I could
justify getting some rabbits to help feed the worms. Our rabbit cages are hung so the droppings fall directly onto the worm beds. We use the worms to populate our gardens and will be selling worms as our own
population grows (contact us if you are interested in brown nosed worms, please). We do sprinkle the worm bed with diatomaceous earth to control the fire ants. The worm castings are used in our seed beds and the top
dressing of hay is wonderful for roses in the spring. |
